This is a snapshot into the workday of Sharon. The new computer system is going ahead and Bill is stern about the men complying.

Through the day Sharon is busy with the task at hand. Then when she stops for lunch she realizes she hasn’t looked at the school. She is moving on and it is bittersweet.

There is a feeling of betrayal when we as a people ‘move on’. When a loved one dies or a relationship is over and we keep on living or moving forward, we often deal with guilt. Often there is what is called survivor’s guilt when someone dies.

We feel that staying mired in the pain of the loss somehow honors the person that is lost to us. If they can’t live then we, in order to honor them, should then live a life that is less than.

Sometimes we respond that way out of our own grief and pain, as is right to do. But then there is a time when we must move on. We have to go forward. Staying in the grief and bearing the pain of the loss does not honor the memory of the person who is gone. They would not want that and in essence is dishonoring to them.

Actually, I believe it is a selfish way to attempt to honor them. It becomes more about us and the martyr that we have seemed to become, and less about them and their memory.

Sharon is feeling sad about moving on and thinking less about Molly Sue. Here she reflects on the events that have occurred. Should she have done something different? Could she have done something different and what would it have been?

But from that first moment her heart drove her to love instantly. There was a void in her heart. The void of a child she so desperately wanted and couldn’t have.

Many of us grow up with some type of void in our hearts. Even those who grow up in the most loving and godly homes, all have some type of need inside of us that yearns to be filled. Much of our behavior or personalities are shaped by that need.

No matter what the need is that drives us, there is only one way to have it filled, healed, and complete and that is by asking Jesus to fill it, heal it, and complete it in him.

When you are reading in the Amplified Bible and come upon the word faith, there in parentheses is the definition (that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence).

For an example…

I Timothy 1:19 Holding fast to faith (that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence) and having a good (clear) conscience. By rejecting and thrusting from them [their conscience], some individuals have made shipwreck of their faith.

For many years I’ve often pondered this. How do we lean our human personalities on God? What is a personality? Is it our quirks, our outlook, our beliefs, maybe our deficits?

Whatever it is we can only make it better, make it whole by leaning it on God. Having faith literally means leaning our personal quirks and deficits on God.

We all have holes in our hearts that is part of our human personality. To fill those holes, to heal those holes, to make those holes complete we must lean on God.
