Israel, the Jewish people, love them, hate them, indifferent toward them. But let's explore today, is there a difference between the Israeli nation and the Jewish people? More to the story with Nancy Jackson, episode two. Hello everyone, I wanted to have a quick chat with you today.
I hear a lot of arguing now about Israel and whether or not a person, this person or that person, supports Israel. And there are a lot of reasons for this, but many stem from the Bible. Many stem from the Old Testament of the Bible, where we are told to always support Israel.
Now, there is a distinction between old Israel and the government of Israel today. I support every person, no matter what their nationality is, whether they're Jewish, whether they're American, whether they're Russian, whether they're British. It doesn't matter the nationality of a person for me to love them and accept them.
But when we talk about Israel, we're often not distinguishing between the people in Israel and the government of Israel. It would be the same if somebody said, well, I support all Americans or I support America. Are they supporting the government of America or are they supporting the individual people within the government, within the country? There is a distinction.
And sometimes because we have a biblical history, we don't distinguish when it comes to Israel. When we think of we support Israel, we're thinking we're supporting the old Israel of the Old Testament. Therefore, we are supporting the Jewish people.
But that no longer applies. We can disagree with Israel as a country and what Netanyahu is doing. We can disagree with that while still supporting and loving the Jewish people.
And that is a distinction I feel very strongly that we need to stop and think about. Oh, I am not anti-Semitic if I disagree with a government. I can still love and support the people in Israel and while disagreeing with their government.
And I think that's a distinction we need to stop and think about. And another thing, and this is a personal opinion, and I have talked about opinions the other day, but my opinion is that Israel no longer has the place independently within the Christian church that it used to. Jesus was very adamant to follow me.
You must believe in Jesus, believe in me, and follow me and become a Christian and leave the old covenant, leave the old ways, leave the old rituals and thought process. Everyone who believes in me shall be saved. Everyone.
And he didn't, this is not replacement theology. We did not replace the Jews. Everyone is still the same.
And then he melded us into a new creation. He melded all of those who chose him above all else into a new generation, a new creation. And that new creation follows Christ.
Therefore, we call them Christians. And this is my strong belief. And I know it goes against the grain of so many of my Christian brothers and sisters.
And it seems like every day they're elevating Jews more and more and more. And they're elevating the country of Israel almost into a celebrity status, which I don't think is consistent with the New Testament at all. He wanted them to lay down the old and to pick up the new in Christ.
And that meant laying down all that old. That meant picking up the new, which was there in the new, there was only one thing. And in the new, it was just following Christ, loving Jesus and following what his teachings are.
Now, I want to read a couple of scriptures for you that back up my thought. When I read these years ago, man, I was 100% on board Israel. Yes, go, go, go.
And only because of the Old Testament and what was written there. And I have had friends tell me, well, that says to never end. These are to never end until the end of the age, which is a whole other video we could have here.
But it is very clear in the New Testament where it says that there is no distinction. So let me just read this first one to you. This first one is Galatians 3, and it starts in verse 25.
But now that faith has come, something new in the New Testament, now that something new, that faith has come, we are no longer under a trainer, the guardian of our childhood. For in Christ Jesus, you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you as are baptized into Christ, into a spiritual union and communion with Christ, the anointed one, the Messiah, you have put on, clothed yourselves with Christ.
There is now no distinction, neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither slave nor free. There is not male and female.
You are all one in Christ. And if you belong to Christ, are in him who is Abraham's seed, then you are Abraham's offspring and spiritual heirs according to promise. So he took Abraham's seed and melded us into it.
So we are all now Abraham's seed. Abraham had many sons. God fulfilled the promise as he would have sons as many as the grains of sand and the stars in the sky.
And what a lot of people don't talk about is Abraham was married after Sarai died, and he had several more sons. He did have many nations, many, many nations. Jesus came out of Abraham's seed.
He came out of that lineage. So he is part of Abraham's seed. So whoever believes in Christ is now part of that seed.
But Jews must accept Jesus to be part of that special lineage. Okay, that lineage which is in Christ. Let me read another scripture.
Romans 10, and I'm going to start at verse 9. Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord, and in your heart believe, adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes, adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ, and so is justified, declared righteous, acceptable to God. And with the mouth he confesses, declares openly, and speaks out freely his faith, and confirms his salvation.
The scripture says no man who believes in him, who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in him, will ever be put to shame or be disappointed. No one, for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all of us, and he generously bestows his riches upon all who call upon him in faith.
For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord, invoking him as Lord, will be saved. So there again, there is no distinction between Jew or Greek. I'm going to read another scripture.
Colossians 3, and I'm going to start at verse 11. In this new creation, all distinctions vanish. This is a big proponent in the New Testament.
All distinctions, all dividing lines, they all vanish. There is no room for, and there can be, neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, nor difference between nation or alien, barbarians or syntheans, who are the most savage of all, nor slave or free man, but Christ is all and in all. Everything and everywhere to all men, without distinction of person.
Clothe yourselves, therefore, as God's own chosen ones, his own picked representatives, who are purified and holy and well beloved by God himself, by putting on behavior marked by tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling and lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways and patience, which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes with good temper. Be gentle and forbearing with one another. If one has a difference, a grievance, or complaint against another, readily pardoning each other, even as the Lord has freely forgiven you, so must you forgive.
And above all these, put on love and enfold yourself into the bond of perfect perfectness, which binds everything together completely. There is a new generation, a new life in Christ, where everyone melds together, and none of the others matter. The only thing that matters is, are you in Christ? Have you accepted Christ? All nations, all distinctions funnel into the one.
No, it's not replacement theory. It is melding into the one. We are all grafted into the seed of Abraham.
That doesn't mean that if you were once in the seed of Abraham, you are still holy and righteous. No, the only ones now in the new covenant who are holy and righteous are the ones who have said, yes, I accept Jesus as Lord. So, I think all this fighting over Israel and over the Jews and whether we're anti-Semitic is a moot point.
I think we need to realize that all people have value. All people have value, whether they're Jewish, whether they're American, whether they're Russian, whether they're British, no matter where they come from, they have been created by God the Father. But are they a Christ follower? That is a whole other distinction.
And in Christ, everybody is the same. Everybody is to be loved and accepted. Now, does that mean that our love and acceptance stops there? No, it does not.
We are to love and to care for everyone. That love, mercy, and patience is a distinction of those following Christ. So, regardless of who is out there, we are to love them.
And if you hate the Jews, and you are anti-Semitic, you are not in Christ. I am sorry, because it says to be in Christ, you are to take on that love, patience, and compassion that Christ portrayed. So, again, I want to reiterate, I love all people.
I truly do, because the love of Christ abides in me. But I can disagree with a government functioning body. I can disagree with how Israel is currently doing things.
That doesn't mean I hate the Jews. Far from it. I love them with my whole heart.
But I can disagree with a government of Israel and not be anti-Semitic. And if you believe that I'm anti-Semitic by disagreeing with their government or criticizing Netanyahu for his actions, you missed the point. You missed the point.
We are separate from our government. So, I want everybody to think about that today. It was a very stern word from me.
But I just, I think we've got too much fighting going on. Too much fighting that is tearing everyone apart. You hear a criticism of the Israel nation, the Israel government, and Netanyahu.
And immediately people say, oh, they're anti-Semitic. Far from it. They're disagreeing with a government, not the Jewish people.
Okay. Think about that today. Thank you.
