Monday Meditations - John 1:12 – Episode 8

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding the true John 1:12 meaning requires moving beyond the common misconception that being a 'good person' is sufficient for salvation.
  • When you receive Jesus, He grants you the legal right and authority to become a child of God.
  • The process of becoming a child of God is a transformative journey that begins the moment you accept Christ.
  • Biblical meditation involves more than just reading; it means to 'mutter' the Word, allowing it to bind to your spirit and transform you.
  • Daily reflection on scripture allows God to reveal deeper truths about your relationship with Him throughout the week.

John 1:12

12) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

From the time Christ was here and He came to bring the pure undiluted and perfect gospel, man himself as set out, even if unintentionally to dissect and dilute it.

Through the years there are thousands of different beliefs on not only religion, but also the gospel itself. Churches continue to split even now regarding what they want to believe is the truth.

There is a belief that permeates many hearts and minds of people around the world. That belief is that ‘if I am a good person’ I will be ok. I will go to heaven. Many people who even attend church believe that very thing.

I want to start your mind to thinking and your heart to searching today. If you will bear with me through the week I hope to unravel and allow God to reveal more about the scripture above as well as related scriptures. But today I want to dissect this verse just a bit to get you thinking.

If you will look at the scripture where it says “that as many as received Him, to them He gave the RIGHT to become children of God…”

When you receive Jesus he gives you the authority to BECOME a child of God, future tense.

Meditate on this scripture this week. From the time we accept Jesus and acquire the right to become a child of God, just what happens to cause us to actually become a child of God? You won’t want to miss the Wednesday Word Study this week and my blog on Friday.

Today’s Meditation Verse:
John 1:12
12) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

From the time Christ was here and He came to bring the pure undiluted and perfect gospel, man himself as set out, even if unintentionally to dissect and dilute it.

Each Monday I am going to be having ‘Monday Meditations’. I hope to bring to you each Monday a verse to mediate on for the week. This is not for memorization, but to think about and to dwell on. The word meditate, in the bible, means to mutter. So this week as you go about your life, think about and mutter to yourself the verse for the week and think about how it applies to your life. Meditating on a verse will bind it to your spirit and it will become part of you! The more of the Word you meditate on, the more it will transform you into the image of Christ!
